HOMEWORK

All children at St Augustine’s receive
regular homework; the content and amount increases with age and according to ability. Most importantly we expect all children to take home a book and to spend time reading every evening, including weekends.

We strongly encourage parents/carers to support children with the completion of homework and to share their child’s
reading books by reading together and by talking about the pictures and/or the text.

We also request that parents/carers join and regularly visit their local library to extend each child’s interest in books and encourage them to participate in the library’s Summer Reading Challenge each year during the six week holiday.

CURRICULUM ENRICHMENT

During the year children are regularly taken out of school (with parents/carers’
permission) to visit London’s galleries,
museums, theatres, parks and sites of
scientific interest and we regard these trips to be an essential element of our pupils’ education. We believe pupils gain a great deal of educational and social benefit from taking part in trips and visits through participating in activities and undergoing experiences that would not otherwise be
available to them in the classroom. In order for trips and visits to take place we rely on parents/carers to accompany their children’s classes as often as they can.
